Overview

Beside the Khabur River, Guzana became the capital of the Aramaean kingdom of Bit-Bahiani. Its palaces were decorated with carved stone orthostats and monumental figures. The tell also gave its name to the much earlier prehistoric Halaf culture; these are distinct periods.

Significance

A capital whose sculpted palace facades are among the most recognizable Aramaean monuments.
