Who we are
Dalil Syria is an independent editorial travel and heritage guide to Syria. This policy explains what information we handle when you browse the guide, create an account, contribute photographs, or submit a place or property.
What we collect
Browsing the guide requires no account. If you create one, we store your email address and any profile details you choose to add. If you save or mark places as visited, we store those references against your account. If you upload photographs or submit a place or accommodation, we store the content you send us together with the description, location and credit you provide. We also keep basic technical data such as browser type and approximate region for security and reliability.
Why we use it
To provide the account features you asked for, to publish approved community contributions with the credit you gave, to moderate submissions for safety and accuracy, to answer questions you ask our AI assistants, and to keep the service secure. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising profiles.
AI assistants
The AI Receptionist and Hotel Concierge answer using our own catalogue of places and verified stays. Messages you type are processed by our AI provider to generate a reply. Please do not include sensitive personal information in chat messages.
Third parties
We rely on service providers for hosting, database and authentication, map tiles and geographic data (OpenStreetMap), weather forecasts (Open-Meteo), and AI replies. They process data only to deliver those functions.
Retention and your rights
Account data is kept while your account exists. You can edit your saved and visited places at any time from your profile, and you can ask us to delete your account and contributions. You may also request a copy of the data linked to your account.
Children
The guide is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.
