Overview
Tell Afis, identified with Hazrek or Hatarikka, was a major Aramaean settlement in today's Idlib governorate. Excavations uncovered substantial defensive walls and a large sacred building. The Zakkur Stele, found here, records the words of a regional ruler.
Significance
An inscription-bearing administrative and religious center that illuminates Aramaean politics in northern Syria.
