Do Not Travel to Syria (UK FCDO, Canada, Germany, USA)
Due to unpredictable security conditions, ongoing armed conflict, civil unrest, high risk of terrorism, kidnappings, and criminality, all international governments advise against travel to Syria. Consular services are extremely limited or unavailable.
Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against official government advice.

Regional Status
Damascus & Suburbs
Risk of Israeli airstrikes targeting military installations and government buildings. Roadblocks and checkpoints are common. Despite the recent change in government, the situation remains volatile and unpredictable.
Coast & Central Governorates (Latakia, Tartus, Homs, Aleppo)
Ongoing military activity, security incidents, and risk of airstrikes. Aleppo airport has resumed limited commercial operations but many airlines have not returned. Road conditions and safety are poor.
Palmyra & Eastern Desert
High risk of terrorism and armed clashes. Areas may be controlled by various armed groups, making travel extremely dangerous.
North-East (Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor)
Threat of terrorist actors remains, with a risk of targeted and indiscriminate attacks. Unpredictable security conditions due to ongoing military activity.
South (Daraa, Suwayda)
High crime rate, including kidnappings for ransom. Smuggling and trafficking activities are prevalent, especially along the border.
North-West (Idlib)
Areas remain under the control of various armed groups. Ongoing military activity and risk of airstrikes. Extremely volatile and dangerous.

- Avoid areas around security or military facilities.

- Exercise extreme caution; be aware of your surroundings at all times.
- Avoid travelling at night and do not display signs of affluence.
- Avoid areas where demonstrations or large gatherings are taking place.
- Be prepared for power outages, fuel shortages, and disrupted telecommunications.
Medical Facilities
Healthcare facilities are severely degraded, and access to medical services is extremely limited. Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical treatment, emergency medical evacuation, and any pre-existing conditions. Verify your insurance remains valid if traveling against official advice.
