Contributor guidelines.
Syria Through Your Eyes is a documentary archive. These rules keep it accurate, respectful and safe.
What we accept
- Upload only real photographs you took yourself. AI-generated images presented as real photography are not accepted.
- No illegal content, harassment, doxxing, graphic violence, exploitation, or advertising spam.
- Do not publish other people's private information, and be considerate when photographing people.
- Do not publish exact coordinates of military, security, or sensitive archaeological sites.
- Describe the place accurately — the goal is useful visual documentation of Syria.
How review works
Every upload is checked by an AI assistant for obvious problems and for metadata suggestions, then reviewed by a human moderator who approves, requests changes, or rejects it. AI never publishes a photo on its own, and its suggestions can always be overridden by you and by the moderator.
Location privacy
Camera metadata (including GPS) is stripped when your photo is processed. You choose whether the public map shows an exact point, an approximate area, or nothing at all. Exact coordinates of military, security or fragile archaeological sites are never published.
Licence
I confirm that I own this photograph or have permission to upload it. I keep ownership and grant Dalil Syria a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, resize, optimise, distribute and promote it within Dalil Syria and its official channels. Resale and commercial sublicensing are not permitted.
You can request removal of your photograph at any time from your contributor dashboard.
